The Conclave — New Start Time (7:00pm)

Don’t be shocked guys…starting march 10th we are moving the start time for The Conclave up 30 minutes to 7:00pm.    So don’t be late next week.

Must We Ask God for Forgiveness?

“It is no longer necessary for you to ask for forgiveness for your sins. In fact, it insults the finished work of Jesus on the cross when we do ask. It implies that the matter isn’t finished although Jesus clearly said that “it is finished.” Read more…

Time to Pay the Piper

Last week at The Conclave we discussed the concept of Consequences. Do you realize that everything in life has a Consequence? Now, the word has a negative connotation in our culture but Consequence could be a positive or a negative. Definition says that Consequence is…something produced by a cause or necessarily following from a set of conditions.

News Flash…You Must Belong to The Club!

Published on February 16th, 20103 comment

Rick Warren recently published an article on ChristianPost.com that I simply had issue with. Too many pastors see the world through a lens that is clouded with tradition and self-protection. it is time we realize that the Body of Christ and The Local Church are not necessarily the same thing.

The Point of All Living

Published on January 30th, 2010one comment

Oh, how we have complicated our life and our faith.  We have created and existence of striving and human performance.  All which serves to frustrate and discourage us.  It is time we slow down review what is truly important and then learn to “be”.  This means it is okay to not “do”.  You have my permission to simply “be”.  It’s okay, the world won’t shift off it’s axis, the sun will still come up in the…

Why The Conclave is NOT an Accountability Group a.k.a the Failure of “Accountability”

Published on January 26th, 2010no comments

I tell people all the time that The Conclave is not a “men’s Bible study” nor is it an “accountability group”. It is so much more. Misguided accountability practices can lead to legalism. In legalism, performance replaces obedience,we are motivated by works not grace.

Motive is Always a Matter of the Heart

Published on January 25th, 2010no comments

A person’s character is determined by his motives, and motive is always a matter of the heart. This is what Scripture means when it says that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. God doesn’t judge us by our looks or our intelligence; he judges us by our hearts.
