Last week at The Conclave we discussed the concept of Consequences. Do you realize that everything in life has a Consequence? Now, the word has a negative connotation in our culture but Consequence could be a positive or a negative. Definition says that Consequence is…something produced by a cause or necessarily following from a set of conditions.
So for every decision and action, whether it is right or wrong, good or bad, we will experience some level of Consequence .
Since most of our reality involves the negative version of Consequence, that is where we start. Consequence could be as mundane as touching the hot stove and getting burned. We learned that lesson early in life. We could get a ticket for speeding, maybe written-up for a policy violation, maybe dismissed for egregious behavior at our job. In some instances societal and gross legal boundaries are crossed and we face legal repercussions for said actions. We will pay the piper for our actions in some manner.
Sometimes our Consequences come as a result of the actions of OTHER PEOPLE. These can be the hardest for us to deal with as they tend to do the most damage internally…to our soul, mind, and heart. Simply put, when I screw up it tends to be easier to absorb the consequences. Yet, when people violate us with their actions, such as abuse violence, etc, the resulting felt Consequences can leave us wounded in the deepest recesses of our being. These are not so easily managed and can dramatically influence how we go about our lives.
